President's Letter Fox Valley

Fox Valley Chapter
Illinois CPA Society
President’s Letter
2012-2013

To the members of the Fox Valley Chapter, Illinois CPA Society:

Welcome to our 2012-2013 season. The Fox Valley Chapter has planned another great year for the members and friends of our chapter. This season’s breakfast seminar series begins on September 6 with one of our more popular speakers, Brian Whitlock presenting his program Estate Planning for Family Business. Add this and the entire CPE series below to your calendar now.

As always, our Chapter’s CPE programs strive to be informative and relevant to CPAs in both public practice and private industry. There are 6 breakfast meetings planned, all include a buffet breakfast beginning at 7:30am. Programs start promptly at 8:00am and end at 10:00am, with the exception of May 2 2013, which ends at 11:00am.

All of the CPE breakfast seminars will be held at the Hilton – Lisle/Naperville, located in Lisle on Warrenville Road, just east of Naperville Road. For directions, contact the Hilton directly at 630.505.0900.

The cost of each meeting is $40.00 if paid in advance, or $45.00 at the door. Your admission fee includes breakfast and 2 hours of CPE (3 hours on May 2). This season, we will continue with our previous practice of extending a substantial discount to those who sign up and pay for the entire season. To enjoy the discount, there is one condition; you must pay the season ticket price in full before our 1st meeting on September 6th. This “season ticket” price is $180, a savings of $60 ($90 if you are accustomed to paying at the door). Also, the “season ticket” is transferrable – if you cannot attend a meeting, you may have another person attend in your place. This is ideal for firms and companies preferring to divide their season ticket by sending different firm personnel to different meetings. Note: after September 6, the “season ticket” price increases to $200, so make sure you get your registration in early.

To take advantage of this discount for the entire series, send a check for $180.00 payable to the Fox Valley Chapter ICPAS to our Treasurer, Peggy Tomisek Nasti, 695 Sterling Court, Naperville, IL 60540. If paying with a company check, include a note with the name of the attendee you are registering. If any questions, contact Peggy at ptnasti@wideopenwest.com or 630.983.6201.

CPA/JD Practitioners Breakfast: The most recent addition to our roster of Chapter professional meetings, this group meets on the 2nd Friday of every month. Practicing CPAs and Attorneys are encouraged to meet for networking opportunities and educational discussion. Each meeting will generally begin with a brief presentation by an area CPA, attorney, insurance or banking professional on a current topic of interest within their particular practice area. Past topics have included the sharing of year end tax planning ideas, case law developments with trust Crummey Notices, an update on developments with state income tax nexus for multi state business, and in the qualified retirement plan area, new ERISA disclosure rules. Meetings are held in a private room at Allgauer’s Restaurant, located within the Lisle Hilton on Warrenville Road, just east of Naperville Road. The cost for the presentation, networking, and breakfast is $15. For more information, please contact either of the committee chairs, Audrey J. Small Practitioners’ Tax Group: Meeting on the 4th Monday of every month, this informal breakfast meeting gives Tax Professionals a place to discuss current tax and practice management issues. Tax Practitioners will have an opportunity to share experiences, problems and make recommendations on a host of matters. Past discussions have included dealing with IRS correspondences, fed and state tax representation issues and experiences, tax software selection, year end tax planning, and more. Come join us. Bring your questions and generate some discussion! Meetings are held in a private room at IHOP, 167 Danada Square East in Wheaton, which is located on the northeast corner of Butterfield and Naperville Roads, next to PNC Bank. The only cost is for your breakfast. For information, contact Linda Nayder at lnayder@nayder.com or 630.416.7068.
