CHICAGO, June 22, 2016 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Edilberto Ortiz, founder of Chicago-based, E-C Ortiz and Company, with the Lester H. McKeever Jr. Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award. Ortiz was recognized for his leadership and commitment to fostering a culture of diversity within his profession.
He received the honor on Tuesday, June 14 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.
Ortiz opened his firm in 1974 and he has more than 30 years of accounting and auditing experience. He has served as the past president of the National Council of Philippine American and Canadian Accountants and was also president of the Philippine CPAs of Greater Chicago. Ortiz is also a founding member of the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.
On the national level, Ortiz currently serves the National Diversity and Inclusion Commission of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Previously, he served as chairman of the AICPA’s Scholarship Task Force.
