CHICAGO, June 13, 2017 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Dr. Gregory Tapis, Assistant Professor at Augustana College in Rock Island, with a 2017 Outstanding Educator Award. Tapis was recognized for significant contributions to accounting education in Illinois through leadership, teaching excellence and active involvement in the accounting profession.
He received the award on Wednesday, June 7 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.
Dr. Tapis teaches accounting systems, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting as well as business law. His research interests include accounting issues within family businesses and legal issues in accounting. Articles by Dr. Tapis have been published in several prestigious journals, including the Atlantic Law Journal and the Journal of Accountancy.
“I am fortunate to work with dedicated students and watch them progress from students to interns to accounting professionals,” said Dr. Tapis. “Seeing the enthusiasm of students when they return from applying their education during internships is fulfilling as an educator and I enjoy celebrating their accomplishments.”
