CHICAGO, June 13, 2017 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Stella Marie B. Santos, Managing Partner and co-founder of Adelfia LLC, a public accounting firm in Chicago, with the Lester H. McKeever Jr. Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award. Santos was recognized for her leadership and commitment to fostering a culture of diversity within her profession.
She received the award on Wednesday, June 7 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.
Among Santos’ accomplishments in her 25 years of experience include earning CPA credentials in Illinois, Indiana and in the Philippines. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines and achieved the 12th highest score on the country’s CPA exam.
In 2014, Stella Marie was inducted into the Circle of Empowered Women by the Illinois chapter of the National Federation of Filipino-American Associations. In that same year, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award as Councilor from the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Fame for Excellence in Finance and Accounting.
“For me, one of the cornerstones of advancing diversity in our profession is to promote an open-minded spirit in ourselves, workplace, and organizations,” said Santos. “To be open-minded is to accept the uniqueness within each of us and strive to work with the best one can offer.”
