CHICAGO, June 19, 2018 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Luis Plascencia, CPA, MST, MBA, Lecturer at the City Colleges of Chicago with its 2018 Outstanding Educator Award. Plascencia was recognized for significant contributions to accounting education in Illinois through leadership, teaching excellence and active involvement in the accounting profession.
He received the award on Thursday, June 14 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.
After earning his undergraduate degree in accounting, a Master’s in taxation, and an MBA, he opened the Luis V. Plascencia accounting firm in Westchester. Since 2006, Plascencia has shared his knowledge of accounting with future professionals by teaching tax and accounting classes for students at City Colleges of Chicago.
“I take great pride in being afforded the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of leaders,” said Plascencia. “It is not by chance that I decided to teach at the City Colleges of Chicago. It is because I believe in promoting diversity in the accounting profession. It is a true honor to help mold the young minds of future accountants.”
