CHICAGO, September 25, 2018 – Todd Shapiro, President & CEO of the Illinois CPA Society (icpas.org), has been recognized by Accounting Today magazine on its new list of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.” It is the fourth consecutive year Shapiro has been named to this list of key influencers in the accounting profession.
In describing his impact on the profession, Accounting Today notes that, “Shapiro is leading his society to explore important — and sometimes difficult — issues in the profession, from the potential technological divergence between small and large firms, to the reasons not enough accountants take the CPA Exam, to the ways traditional accounting culture may conflict with firm goals.”
All nominees were selected from across the country and included AICPA and other state society leaders, government officials, consultants and key influencers in the profession.
“The rate of change in our profession will never be any slower than it is right now,” said Shapiro. “This recognition underscores the Illinois CPA Society’s efforts to bring all accounting and financial professionals up to speed on significant changes. But it really does take a full team effort to achieve our goals and it doesn’t happen without the hard work of our entire staff and volunteer leaders.”
