July 13, 2021
This regulatory update provides information regarding 2021 Illinois CPA license and registration renewals. 2021 is a license renewal year for Illinois Certified Public Accountants. Illinois CPA license and registrations expire on September 30, 2021.
Typically, renewal notices are sent via email from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) during the second or third week of June. Due to an IDFPR IT conversion process, the online renewal window for Illinois CPAs has not opened, and no email notices for renewals have been sent at this time. Note: Paper renewal notices (yellow post card) are no longer used, and you will not receive any notice via United States Mail.
The Illinois CPA Society Government Relations Office has been working with IDFPR staff on CPA renewals and will continue to monitor the agency’s plans and timetable for sending a renewal email announcing the online renewal window opening.
Illinois CPAs should complete the following in preparation of the online renewal window opening:
- Complete 120 hours of continuing education by September 30, 2021
- Ensure that IDFPR has your current email address to receive the renewal notice.
- Ensure that your firm’s email enterprise will not spam incoming emails from [email protected] This will be the email you receive from IDFPR officially announcing you can renew online.
The Illinois CPA Society has posted license renewal resources for you to use in your renewal preparation efforts:
We will continue to keep you informed on developments as they become available.
