Kathleen Orlando is the CEO of Kathleen Orlando & Associates, Inc. an
accounting practice in Palos Heights, Illinois. The firm was established in 1994
and moved to its current location in 2001. Kathleen provides income tax and
accounting services to individuals and small businesses organized
as corporations, S Corporations, partnerships, LLCs and sole
proprietorships. She provides QuickBooks consulting and set up, as well as
payroll services for closely held companies. Kathleen provides tax planning
services to clients so they can take full advantage of the current income tax
regulations.
Kathleen consults with clients for appropriate retirement plan choices, as
well as employee benefit plans such as Health Savings Accounts, Health
Reimbursement Accounts, and Flexible Savings accounts for medical and dependent
care. These tax-favored plans, when implemented properly, give smaller companies
the ability to provide employee benefits at an affordable cost. Over the years
she has gained expertise in dealing with IRS audits and taxpayers with audit and
fax issues for both federal and state governments. Many of her clients have
multi-state income tax issues related to income and investments.
After many years in the manufacturing industry, Kathleen brought her
knowledge of converting manual to computerized accounting systems, establishing
systems and controls for small businesses and cash-basis taxpayers, and
establishing good internal controls to the closely held and small business
taxpayers she now serves. She consults with clients, encouraging them to use
technology to aid in their everyday business activities. Kathleen takes a
pro-active approach to taxpayer problems by reaching out to her clients
regularly in the form of on-line and print newsletters.
Kathleen is licensed to practice as an Illinois CPA and is a member in good
standing in the Illinois CPA Society. She has been active with the Chicago South
Chapter of the Society, currently serving on the Board and she was a co-founder
of the Practice Management Forum, known as the Brain Trust, and the Women's
Initiative for the South Chapter. Kathleen served as Chicago South Chapter
President from 2009/2010 and has been active in the Chapter for over 15
years.
