Resume Writing and Interviewing
A resume should be a fact sheet about you. Include basic information such as name and address, educational background and experience, as well as information on any clubs or extracurricular activities in which you were involved. Be sure to emphasize any awards or outstanding grade point average you received. Keep the resume brief, summarizing the information into short statements or bullets. A cover letter or email should accompany your resume and be tailored to the specific job for which you are applying. Check with your school to see if they have a career center with references and staff to assist you.
The interview is an exchange between the employer and you. A candidate who is prepared and asks questions about the position and company impresses employers. While many companies are now business casual, always dress professionally for the interview, arrive on time and be prepared. An interview may have a few levels, including meeting with Human Resources and taking skills tests, so be sure to schedule your time accordingly.
