CPAs and firms licensed as Public Accounting (PA) Firms must renew their CPA licenses and registrations every three years. These renewals are on a set schedule set by the licensing body, Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Licenses are renewed online on the IDFPR website. In lieu of paper reminders/renewal forms, IDFPR has implemented an electronic license reminder notification process. Licensees are strongly encouraged to visit IDFPR's online address change page to provide a current email address and ensure contact information is up-to-date and accurate.
