The Illinois CPA Society's CPAs for the Public Interest and Ladder Up have partnered to recruit volunteer tax preparers to assist low-income individuals and families throughout Illinois with preparing and filing their federal and state tax returns.
Ladder Up provides the requisite training and facilitates the volunteer opportunities to best meet the needs of taxpayers.
Please note that you're an Illinois CPA Society volunteer when registering.
Get involved: Volunteers can create a VolunteerHub account with Ladder Up.
Volunteer training will take from mid-December through January.
Get trained: Ladder Up will be offering Basic and Advanced certification trainings in-person and virtually for volunteers. All volunteers must also take two short 10-question tests on ethics and intake quizzes.Ladder Up will provide a pre-read to complete prior to the training and all the tools you need to certify.

This volunteer program is organized by CPAs for the Public Interest, the community service arm of the Illinois CPA Society, which links financial management professionals with not-for-profit organizations and community service projects in Illinois.
