Voula Spyridis is a Senior Manager in the Exempt
Organization Tax Services practice at EY and is based in Chicago, Illinois. She
has over ten years of experience in public accounting, providing tax compliance
and advisory services to a variety of tax exempt organizations, including
private foundations, public charities, trade associations, social clubs, and
pension trusts. Her experience includes review of Forms 990/990-T/990-PF and
related state filings, tax review procedures associated with audits of tax
exempt clients, and analysis of alternative investments and relevant foreign
filings review. She holds a BS in Accountancy from Northeastern Illinois
University and a Master’s in Accounting from Northern Illinois University and is
a CPA licensed in Illinois.
Katherine Kurtzman a Managing Director at Ernst &
Young brings over thirty-five years of specialized experience in serving
not-for-profit clients and their affiliates. She collaborates closely with
system accounting and tax teams to help assist in preparing and reviewing exempt
organization returns. Katherine has a proven track record of representing
organizations before the Internal Revenue Service and conducting due diligence
reviews to analyze tax exposures for acquisition and merger targets.
Additionally, she works with foreign tax desks and offices, ensuring
comprehensive support for her clients. Katherine has advised numerous
foundations on various policies and procedures, including gift acceptance
policies, and has extensive experience assisting hospitals with Schedule H
reporting and Section 501(r) compliance. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Business
Administration from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a Master of Science
Degree in Taxation from Walsh College. Katherine is a member of the Illinois CPA
Society and the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants.
Sarah Eddy, CPA, is a manager at Mann Weitz &
Associates LLC. She has more than 18 years of experience in public accounting.
She manages audits, reviews and compilations for nonprofit clients. Sarah’s
nonprofit experience includes social welfare organizations, associations,
educational institutions and healthcare. Sarah has performed single audits under
Uniform Guidance as well as other governmental audits. In May 2024, Sarah joined
the Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee of the Illinois CPA
Society.
Nancy Gonsiorek has more than 25 years of experience
as a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to starting her own firm, Nancy worked
with both “Big 4” and mid-sized regional firms. Nancy founded her accounting
firm, Nancy L. Gonsiorek, CPA, LLC in 2008, providing audit, tax and consulting
services to small nonprofit organizations. Nancy’s firm philosophy is to empower
our small, community-based organizations by offering them quality nonprofit
expertise that is normally available only from larger firms.
