How It Works

  • Get involved: Volunteers can register now. (Registration Coming Soon!)
  • All training is provided – no tax experience is needed: Training on tax basics and tax preparation is available online and in the classroom.
  • Continuing Professional Education credits (CPE): CPAs can earn CPE after completing online and in-person training. Only 25 volunteer hours are required.
  • Convenient site locations: There are more than a dozen volunteer sites in northeastern Illinois and in Springfield. Location information for all sites is available here.
  • Flexibility: Volunteer afternoon, evening or weekend hours to fit your schedule. A commitment of once per week for four hours is ideal.

This volunteer program is organized by CPAs for the Public Interest, the community service arm of the Illinois CPA Society, which links financial management professionals with not-for-profit organizations and community service projects in Illinois.
