  1. CPA License Renewal
    Provided information and direct member assistance on the challenging 2021 CPA license renewal process.

  2. Pandemic Communications
    Provided continuous updates on IRS, Treasury, SBA, state government, and PPP pronouncements.

  3. State Tax Filing Extension
    Advocated to extend Illinois state income tax filing and payment deadline to July 15 during the initial COVID outbreak.

  4. Tax Filers Relief
    Advanced an estimated payment option with the Illinois Department of Revenue, providing filers with relief during the pandemic.

  5. CPA Exam
    Amended the Public Accounting Act to require 120 hours to sit for the CPA exam and 150 hours for licensure.

  6. Non-Compete Covenants
    Negotiated legislation to preserve the use of not-to-compete/ non-solicitation covenants in employment agreements.

  7. PPP Agent Fees
    Intervened in the SBA defining agent fees for PPP loan applications on behalf of CPAs.

  8. NFP 990 Extensions
    Assisted CPAs in requesting extensions for their non-profit/charitable clients in filing IL 990s with the Illinois Attorney General.

  9. PPP Loan Forgiveness
    Launched a successful congressional grassroots advocacy campaign on PPP loan forgiveness.

  10. PPP Expertise
    Provided professional expertise to members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation to support their virtual town hall forums on the PPP.

  11. Fighting a Tax on Professional Services
    Maintain a broad-based coalition of professional and trade organizations to oppose any legislative initiatives to impose a tax on professional services.

  12. Legislative/Regulatory Updates
    Provide ongoing information to members through Capitol Insight, Insight magazine, Daily Morning Reports when the legislature is in session, and special alerts.

  13. Bill Monitoring
    Monitor bills that are introduced or amended that negatively impact the CPA profession.

  14. Legislation Tracking
    Provide real-time tracking of tax and other legislation of interest to the CPA profession.
