Jon Assell is Chief Financial Officer at the Kenneth C.
Griffin Museum of Science and Industry (Griffin MSI), overseeing the Finance and
Technology functions. As a CPA with nearly 20 years of experience working with
Chicago’s premier not-for-profit organizations, Mr. Assell drives value creation
through deep understanding of the economics of Griffin MSI and as a champion for
enabling digital acceleration. Prior to joining Griffin MSI, Mr. Assell launched
an accounting and corporate finance practice, serving venture capital-backed and
not-for-profit clients. He is a former Deloitte auditor and the former
Controller of Catholic Extension, a $40 million fundraising and grant-making
organization. He currently serves on the Board of Ledger & Quill. Mr. Assell
holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University,
with specializations in Finance and Entrepreneurship, and a BS in Accountancy
and Finance from DePaul University.

Lee A. Gould, CPA, JD, CFE is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner who specializes in the valuation of closely-held businesses, financial damage determination and forensic accounting investigations. Mr. Gould also designs and presents continuing education programs for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the Chicago Bar Association and law firms.
He performs forensic accounting analyses to assist in locating unreported or hidden assets, determination of the source of funds used to acquire assets, investigate claims of misappropriation or determine the reasonableness of contract and/or project related costs.
Mr. Gould provides business valuation and business consulting services to lawyers and their clients. He performs business valuations for estate and gift tax purposes, matrimonial dissolution proceedings, shareholder dissent and oppression actions and in conjunction with the preparation of buy/sell agreements.
He is a partner of Russell Novak & Company, LLP. The partnership includes providers of multiple disciplines, including arrangements with specialists in other disciplines to provide closely-held businesses with the resources to meet their dynamic needs in today's environment.
Mr. Gould received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law and has received extensive training from various societies in the field of business valuation. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
