LICENSED/REGISTERED CPAs - Illinois CPA licenses and registrations expire on September 30, 2024. If you have not already renewed your license or registration, you should do so at this time to avoid any lapse.

 

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) sent renewal notifications via email announcing the renewal portal opening on July 1, 2024. If you did not receive the renewal notice, check your spam box and/or log in to your IDFPR account to renew. If you are having problems accessing your account, contact the IDFPR Hotline for log-in assistance at 1-800-560-6420.

 

ICPAS Government Relations has posted a Regulatory License Bulletin with useful renewal information to assist you in this process.

 

FIRM LICENSE RENEWALS - Firm license renewal notices were emailed to firm license contacts on or about September 1, 2024. The firm contact identified on the firm renewal will receive the email renewal notice. If you did not receive the notice, contact the IDFPR Hotline for login assistance. Firm licenses expire November 30, 2024. Partners listed on the partner roster with IDFPR must first renew their individual licenses before the firm license can be renewed. It is important that the firm license contact and managing partner ensure that the partner roster is updated and that current partners have renewed their individual licenses for the firm to renew the firm license.

 

IDFPR-CPA LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS - ICPAS Government Relations has worked closely with IDFPR on the 2024 CPA license renewal process. IDFPR has made significant improvements in renewal processes, and the hotline services have significantly improved as well. Overall, the renewal process has gone smoothly thus far with some knock-off exceptions that have been quickly remedied by departmental staff.

 

CONCLUSION - Now is the time to renew your license and/or registration if you have not already done so. Do not delay to avoid a lapse in your authorization to use the CPA credential. CPA firm renewals require overwatch by the firm license contact and managing partner to ensure that the partner roster accurately reflects firm partners and that all the listed partners have successfully renewed their respective licenses.
