Overview

As we head into 2026, firms conducting audits under the Statements on Auditing Standards (SAS), engagements under the Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS), or engagements under the Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAEs) must complete the design of their quality management system and begin implementing and monitoring their systems to comply with the AICPA’s Quality Management (QM) Standards.

To support this transition, the first part of this year’s course will break down QM standards design and implementation, with a particular focus on developing the monitoring policies and procedures needed to assess whether a firm’s QM system is operating consistently and effectively. During the second part of the course, participants can choose to (a) work on completing their firm’s QM system design (quality risk identification, assessment, and response) or (b) start developing the monitoring policies and procedures needed to evaluate whether the QM system is functioning as intended.

This course is designed for:

  • Firms that have not yet completed the implementation of their quality management systems, including finalizing the risk assessment and response process or quality management documentation.
  • Firms seeking guidance on recommended monitoring and remediation policies and procedures necessary for the design of their firm’s quality management systems.
  • Firms interested in dedicating 3 to 3.5 hours to actively work on completing their risk assessment response process and quality management documentation.
  • Firms that would benefit from engaging in discussions with peer firms and/or instructors regarding questions about their quality management implementation.
