Amy has more than 15 years of providing assurance
services to nonprofit and healthcare entities, Amy has extensive nonprofit
experience with audits of human service organizations, trade associations,
private and operating foundations, and other nonprofits organizations. Amy also
has significant experience with audits subject to Government Auditing Standards
and the Uniform Guidance.
Amy’s experience includes:
- Researching and disseminating information to the engagement teams related
to recent pronouncements issued by the FASB and others that set standards for
the nonprofit sector.
- Applying technical knowledge to develop, administer, and deliver both
internal and external webinars and training courses.
- Supporting audit engagement teams and our Alliance firm network in
navigating complex auditing, accounting matters, reporting issues, and
compliance issues.
In addition, Amy is a Technical Director for the BDO Institute for Nonprofit
ExcellenceSM. She also is a regular contributor to the BDO quarterly Nonprofit
Standard newsletter.
Amy Tyszkowski is a Miller Cooper Audit Principal
and a member of the firm’s Assurance and Accounting department. Additionally,
Amy is a Principal in our Nonprofit Services Group. She services as the
engagement leader for audits, reviews, compilations and accounting projects and
is responsible for the management and supervision of her engagement teams. In
addition to serving clients, Amy is also an active member of the firm’s
recruiting team, chair of the firm’s women’s resource group, co-leads the firm’s
nonprofit trainings, and oversees the firm’s onboarding trainings. Amy has been
with Miller Cooper since 2013.
Amy has a diverse client base and specializes in
various industries including nonprofit, staffing agencies, restaurants,
entertainment, retail, service, technology, manufacturing and distribution
organizations. Additionally, Amy has expertise in Uniform Guidance audits. Amy
routinely meets with client management and boards of directors to review
financial statement deliverables and discuss best
practices.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy and Finance
from Illinois State University. She is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
