Message from the President and CEO

As we witness the many peaceful protests across the country, and people of all backgrounds speaking out in response to continuing injustices against people of color, specifically black people, the Illinois CPA Society joins with them to condemn all acts of racism, discrimination, intolerance, injustice, and inequality.

Incidents and injustices like the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis are jarring and heartbreaking, and, unfortunately, happen all too often when once is too much. These incidents can never be condoned or excused — they are unacceptable in our society.

The Illinois CPA Society represents more than 22,600 members from countless races, cultures, creeds, and ethnicities. We stand in solidarity with all who suffer the hate and destruction of racism.

In these trying and tragic times, I implore everyone to care for one another, treat others with the same respect and dignity that you would want, and keep lines of communications open. Talking, but more importantly, listening, is a critical step in finding a solution. We then need action to follow our words if we are to truly achieve a more just and inclusive world.

We must do more, and we must do better, if we are to move forward together.
