Illinois CPA Society Hosts 12th Annual CPA Day of Service

CHICAGO, Oct. 8, 2021 – Demonstrating unwavering commitment to their communities and causes, hundreds of CPAs across Illinois participated in the Illinois CPA Society’s 12th annual CPA Day of Service on Sept. 24, 2021, with more activities planned this fall.

Helping hands were abundant as nearly 500 CPA volunteers dressed in matching CPA Day of Service T-shirts took part in a wide variety of charitable and community service activities in support of the communities and causes near and dear to them and their firms and companies. Assisting at animal shelters, preparing meals at food banks, gardening at children’s homes and shelters, making cards for seniors, sorting goods at thrift shops, cleaning up forest preserves, and fundraising for various causes were just some of the actions taken as volunteers sought to provide much-needed help and support to their communities.

“Our annual CPA Day of Service is an incredible opportunity for CPAs to come together all across Illinois to help better their communities,” says Todd Shapiro, Illinois CPA Society president and CEO. “This is the second year that the ‘coming together’ part has been challenged by COVID-19, but the resolve these volunteers have shown by finding safe, creative, and generous ways to support their local communities and the charitable organizations that they care about is truly inspiring, and their efforts are sure to make long-lasting impacts.”

Among the many organizations supported by CPA Day of Service volunteers this year were Almost Home Kids, Bernie’s Book Bank, Feed My Starving Children, Food for Greater Elgin, Forest Preserves of Cook County, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Midwest Food Bank, PAWS, Ronald McDonald House Charities, The Anti-Cruelty Society, and The Bridge Teen Center.
