Illinois CPA Society Honors Terese Kasson with its 2019 Outstanding Educator Award

CHICAGO, June 14, 2019 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Terese Kasson, CPA, MSBA, Accounting Instructor/Academic Advisor, McKendree University with its 2019 Outstanding Educator Award. Kasson was recognized for significant contributions to accounting education in Illinois through leadership, teaching excellence and active involvement in the accounting profession.

She received the award on Tuesday, June 4 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition and Awards Dinner in Chicago.

Kasson has been honored before for teaching excellence; she received McKendree’s Exemplary Teacher Award in 2018. In receiving that honor, Kasson was recognized for preparing students with career advice and what they can expect when entering the workforce.

“In addition to ensuring that McKendree students have the technical knowledge and soft skills needed to compete for CPA firm positions, I work hard to develop their critical thinking skills,” Kasson explained. “Students are comfortable doing complex calculations, but they must be taught the habit of ‘thinking about the numbers’ and determining the significance of the final result.”

Kasson earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
