CHICAGO, Oct. 7, 2025 – For the 16th year in a row, hundreds of Illinois certified public accountants (CPAs) gave back to their local communities for the Illinois CPA Society’s (ICPAS) annual CPA Day of Service held on Sept. 19, 2015, with others still planning activities throughout the fall.
So far, 934 volunteers have taken part in a wide variety of charitable and community service activities in support of the causes they hold close to their hearts. Assisting at animal shelters, helping at book banks, preparing meals at food banks, cleaning up parks and rivers, and providing aid to children’s organizations were just some of the many activities that provided much-needed support to the organizations the volunteers spent their time with.
“It’s always inspiring to see so many ICPAS members and their colleagues give back to their communities,” says Geoffrey Brown, CAE, ICPAS president and CEO. “This year, I had the privilege of seeing firsthand the incredible impact CPA Day of Service volunteers make by spending time with several volunteer groups across Chicagoland. I’m grateful to everyone who participated and am proud to see the CPA community leading by example.”
Among the organizations supported by CPA Day of Service volunteers this year were Bernie’s Book Bank, Blessings in a Backpack, Carlinville Winning Communities NFP, Feed My Starving Children, Glenwood Academy, Gratitude Generation, Gum Drops, Lambs Farm, Midwest Food Bank, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Nourishing Hope, Project Linus, Share Our Spare, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Sophia’s Kitchen, Soup Stop, The Anti-Cruelty Society, Urban Rivers, and many more.
A highlight video and photos from the day can be seen on ICPAS’ website and Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X social media accounts. The next CPA Day of Service is scheduled for Sept. 18, 2026.
