Illinois CPA Society Honors Gregg S. Woodruff with its 2019 Lester H. McKeever Jr. Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award

CHICAGO, June 11, 2019 – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Gregg S. Woodruff, CPA, PhD, Department Chair, Western Illinois University (WIU) with its 2019 Lester H. McKeever Jr. Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award. Woodruff was recognized for his leadership and commitment to fostering a culture of diversity within the accounting profession.

He received the award on Tuesday, June 4 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition and Awards Dinner in Chicago.

Woodruff has been an instructor at WIU since 2001. The school honored him in 2018 with its WIU President’s Excellence in Diversity Award for Excellence in Education.

“I am grateful to those who have dedicated their lives to create opportunities for all students and advance diversity. They are my teachers, coaches, and mentors.” Woodruff said. “I strive to teach each student according to their learning needs and support them as they embrace and pursue the goal of becoming a professional accountant.”

Woodruff earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accountancy from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He later earned his doctorate in business administration from the University of Memphis.
