ICPAS SUMMIT20 Takes Accounting’s Thought Leaders Virtual

CHICAGO, June 29, 2020 – Get a glimpse of what the future holds for the CPA profession at the Illinois CPA Society’s (ICPAS) annual premier event for accounting and finance professionals. Reimagined as a completely virtual event for 2020, ICPAS SUMMIT20 will be held August 25-26 from the comforts of, well, wherever!

The two-day virtual program features more than 50 sessions hosted by more than 60 key thought leaders, including keynotes from some of accounting’s most influential people. The opening keynote, “Moving the CPA Profession Forward,” presented by Illinois CPA Society President and CEO, Todd Shapiro and Dorri C. McWhorter, CPA.CITP, CGMA, Illinois CPA Society Board of Directors chairperson and YWCA Metropolitan Chicago CEO, focuses on CPAs’ critical roles in helping our nation emerge from the financial impacts of the global pandemic and the unique opportunity it has given the profession to go beyond compliance services, beyond trust, and become strategic business advisors.

Other keynotes include: “How Technology Helps Accountants Mitigate Pandemic Risks” by technologist Donny C. Shimamoto, CPA.CITP, CGMA, founder and managing director of IntrapriseTechKnowlogies LLC; “Eyes on the Economy” by Derek Sasveld, CFA, investment strategist with BMO Global Asset Management; and “Mindful Technology: Embracing Technology, Innovation and Mindfulness” by Amy Vetter, CPA.CITP, CGMA, CEO of The B3 Method Institute.

Beyond the innovative learning tracks on accounting, advisory services, auditing, corporate strategy, ethics, government, human capital, tax, and technology solutions, SUMMIT20 will feature interactive experiences, like virtual visits and one-on-one video chat appointments with top-tier exhibitors, and networking opportunities, scavenger hunts, giveaways and prize raffles, flash solution sessions, Q&As, and more.

“Despite these unprecedented times, we’ve aimed to bring all the education, all the excitement, and all the fun to ICPAS SUMMT20 that attendees have come to expect,” Shapiro says. “Accounting and finance professionals are being looked to for advice and insight like never before, and this event is a great opportunity to learn about all the hard trends impacting the profession and gain a competitive edge.”

As a special bonus this year, attendees will receive access to recordings of all SUMMIT20 sessions, so the learning can continue long after the event ends. SUMMIT20 attendees can earn up to 16 hours of CPE credit, including 3 Ethics, 4 Yellow Book, 7.5 CLE, 11.5 CFP (pending), 8 EA, and 1 Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
