More Than 900 Accountants Volunteer During 15th Annual CPA Day of Service

CHICAGO, Oct. 3, 2024 – It was “a good day for doing good” for the 15th year in a row as more than 900 certified public accountants (CPAs) across Illinois participated in the Illinois CPA Society’s annual CPA Day of Service on Sept. 20, 2024, with others still planning activities later this fall.

The 927 volunteers so far took part in a wide variety of charitable and community service activities in support of the causes they hold close to their hearts. Assisting at animal shelters, helping at book banks, preparing meals at food banks, cleaning up parks and rivers, and providing aid to children’s organizations were just some of the many activities that provided much-needed support to the organizations the volunteers spent their time with.

“With more participants turning out than last year, the CPA community was able to make an even greater impact this year. It’s so humbling to see how much care and compassion our CPAs have for the communities they live and work in,” says Geoffrey Brown, CAE, Illinois CPA Society president and CEO. “I was able to spend time with some of the volunteer groups, and all I can say is that it’s really heartwarming to see firsthand the impacts they’re making. We thank our members and their friends, families, and colleagues for coming together across Illinois to serve their communities.”

Among the organizations supported by CPA Day of Service volunteer groups this year were Bernie’s Book Bank, Blessings in a Backpack, Feed My Starving Children, Food 4 Kids, Glenwood Academy, Gum Drops, Lambs Farm, Matthias Academy, National Animal Welfare Society, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Nourishing Hope, Ronald McDonald House, Share Our Spare, The Anti-Cruelty Society, Urban Rivers, and many more were supported by individual volunteers.

A highlight video and photos from the day can be seen on the Illinois CPA Society’s website and Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X social media accounts.
